Our Story
For more than 70 years combined, we've had the privilege of serving California's Developmental Services Community from multiple perspectives.
Our experience spans executive leadership with the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS), ownership and operation of licensed community care facilities and adult day programs, and consulting with providers across the state.
During our time with DDS, we gained extensive experience in clinical services, residential operations, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, fiscal management, human resources, and organizational leadership. We also witnessed the continued evolution of California's developmental services system and the growing importance of person-centered, community-based supports.
As community providers, we experienced firsthand the realities of operating licensed programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Managing staff, preparing for licensing visits, maintaining compliance, balancing budgets, and delivering quality services gave us a practical understanding of the challenges organizations face every day.
These experiences shaped the foundation of Johnson and Lee Inc. Today, we partner with residential and community-based service providers throughout California, offering consultation, training, and technical assistance in HCBS compliance, Title 17 and Title 22 regulations, quality assurance, licensing support, policy development, and organizational improvement.
Our approach is rooted in real-world experience.
